Words from the Festival's Creator
Since becoming a mother my perspective on life has shifted. My 22-month-old daughter inspires me to help her grow deeply rooted in nature while being connected to something greater. The Kayu Putih, a sacred 700-year-old tree, embodies this strength and wisdom for me. It inspired me to create this festival as a symbol of resilience and continuity, offering my daughter and all who join us the opportunity to reconnect with nature and themselves. The Kayu Putih Festival is more than just an event. It’s an invitation to experience, feel, and reconnect with nature through this remarkable tree. By combining nature, science, art, and spirituality, my goal is to allow everyone to discover this tree differently and reconnect with their own roots while reaching towards the sky.The village of Desa Tua is at the heart of this project. The villagers have played a vital role, participating in the river cleanup, creating the flower mandala, and sharing their knowledge through workshops and traditional ceremonies. This festival is an invitation to slow down, feel, and restore our connection to nature. I hope that during these few days, everyone can find inspiration in the tree, just as it has inspired me.Peni
